Explaining the Darker parts of Finsternis Same rules apply for this FAQ with the cynicism. But, basically this will explain what the songs are about. These will all be main topics and not go too in depth. It's just to give you an idea of what I percieve as what they're talking about. So, enjoy. Click to jump to a location on the page.
Werewolves This is what the first two songs deal with. A werewolf is a creature that comes out on full moon nights and then kills stuff. Not much else to say. Dracula Dracula is a vampire. He comes from Romanian legend and basically sucks blood out of people's necks. He's wierd and kinda gross. In some versions of the story he can also turn into a bat, but that doesn't really matter. Séance A séance, for all of you who don't know, is where a bunch of whacked out people sit around a table and do a bunch of ritualistic crap in hopes that the spirits of the past will speak to them. The song about this topic deals with finding out the future and the truths of existance. Whatever; I think it's a bunch of BS. Moving on. The Four Riders of the Apocolypse *Clears throat* At the same time that I saw the Lamb open the first of the seven seals, I heard one of the four living creatures shout with a voice like thunder. It said, "Come out!" Then I saw a white horse. Its rider carried a bow and was given a crown. He had already won some victories, and he went out to win more. When the Lamb opeened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come out!" Then another horse came out. It was fiery red. And its rider was given the power to take away all peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another. He was also given a big sword. When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come out!" Then I saw a black horse, and its rider had a balance scale in one hand. I heard what sounded like living creatures. It said, "A quart of wheat will cost you a whole day's wages! Three quarts of barley will cost you a day's wages too. But don't ruin the olive oil or the wine." When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come out!" Then I saw a pale green horse. Its rider was name Death, and Death's Kingdom followed behind. They were given power over one fourth of the earth, and they could kill its people with swords, famines, diseases, and wild animals. Revelations 6:1-10 So, during the apocolypse, God will send down 4 riders (not neccesarily black) and they will be the sign of the apocolypse. This song could also be Lord of the Rings inspired. Even though they are called the "black riders of the apocolypse" it might make more sense. They're looking for a ring, that is the source of their power. You make the decision. The Salem Witch Trials This is an interesting topic. It was reitterated in Mcarthyism, but I learned about it in school and unless you did too, you guys probably aren't old enough to know what Mcarthyism is. Anywho, basically way back when the Americas were still colonies, in Salem, Virginia there was a bit of an incident. Basically, people started acting strangely. (To be specific, two little girls). They claimed they were being attacked by a witch, who happened to be their black maid. Since these two were the preacher's children, the whole thing blew up. Controversy arose. Every started pretending to be possessed, everyone was getting hung. Mass hysteria. If you confessed to being a witch, and told of other witches, you were let off the hook. But, if you decided that you would stand your ground and tell them you weren't, you were hung. People were accusing eachother of being witches just because they had some dislikings. This whole thing was caused by something that was basically a trick. No one was possessed. It was all very strange. That's the basic story. There was some message in there, but I forget what it is. But, that's all you need to know to get the song. The Excorcist Basically sometime in the 1900's (Can't remember the year) some boy was supposedly possessed by the devil. So, he got excorsized (which, for those of you who don't know, is removing a demonic presence from your soul). It was made into this HUGE deal and 3 movies were made about it, followed by another movie made recently. The original was pretty good, I haven't seen the others. Freddy Freddy was in a bunch of movies. He killed people alot. The end. |
